The Nailbourne Community Store (Association Limited) was set up after a well attended extraordinary public meeting of around 200 people, called by the parish council after it was announced that the owner of the then current shop and post office were retiring, keeping their premises.
Together, we decided to run this as a community venture, creating a sustainable shop and post office that will not suffer the fortunes of the previous business. Running as an Industrial and Provident Society, this means all profits raised go directly back into village projects.
If you would like to become a shareholder then you can download an application form here. As an IPS, you are only allowed one share, there are no dividends, and shares cannot be sold to other people, they do however give you a vote in how the society is run, and can be nominated to stand on the management committee.
The project is divided into two phases which are outlined below:
We are still looking for shareholders and loan note holders, if this would interest you then please download an application form, if you are wanting to become a loan note holder then also download the terms and conditions, these are also available from the home page.
